Help for Adults

Our Vision Rehabilitation Services are an extension of your eye doctors’ care. Our focus is on helping adults who are blind or visually impaired solve the functional challenges of vision loss like reading a book, walking to the store, writing a letter and navigating the internet.  The key to independence is learning how to complete everyday tasks in new and different ways.

Daily Living

Adults who are adjusting to a vision loss often have difficulty with everyday tasks such as preparing meals, managing household tasks and handling personal and health care needs.  Our Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist teaches adults techniques to accomplish these daily tasks and maintain self reliance.

Technology

Adaptive technology has the potential to greatly reduce the challenges of vision loss.  Computers in particular are a powerful tool for maintaining one’s independence. At Vision Forward, we teach computer novices and experts alike to use adaptive software programs to navigate Windows, Word, Excel, and the internet.  These computer skills enable our clients to pursue advanced degrees, gain employment, track personal finances, and stay in touch with loved ones.

Orientation and Mobility

The ability to move about safely within one’s home and community is crucial to living independently. Our Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist teaches adults to use and develop their remaining senses for safe and independent travel.

Through our Adult Vision Services, we teach the skills and provide the necessary training to give people with vision loss the knowledge and confidence to pursue their personal and professional goals.
