The Life Skills program offers recreation and enrichment classes and events that provide people with changing vision opportunities to learn, adapt, and socialize with others.

Life Enrichment Classes
Life Enrichment classes and workshops provide the adaptive tools and confidence that individuals need to independently participate in recreation and enrichment activities in their homes and communities.

Vision Forward’s Store is taking the Adaptive Product Demonstration on the road. Our staff will provide free demonstrations on the use of a wide range of new adaptive items for people with vision loss. Explore the latest in portable magnifying solutions. Take a look at the latest in talking and low vision products. Transportation is available from Vision Forward at no cost. For additional information or to sign up, please call 414-615-0100.
PRACTICAL SELF-DEFENSE
Twice a month, Wednesdays, October 5, 19, November 2, 16, and December 7, and 21; 10:00 – 11:30 am (dates subject to change)
Vision Forward
Class Fee: $2 per session (or $10 for the entire series)
Enhance your spatial awareness and balance as you learn practical self-defense techniques adapted from traditional Japanese martial arts. Mario Quadracci - second degree black belt and senior student at Futen Dojo under Michael Coleman, Kyoshi (Master Teacher) - returns to lead this class. Each student will receive a membership to the Genbukan World Ninpo Bugei Federation and a white belt. New students welcome!

MOBILITY AWARENESS DAY

Celebrate the importance of white cane safety and guide dog awareness! Professionals from Milwaukee Country Transit System, Vision Forward, Guardian Angels Service and Therapy Dogs LLC, and more will be on hand to offer tips and information, and to answer your questions. Enjoy giveaways and light refreshments! All are welcome!

NEW! FELT BEAD WORKSHOP

Vision Forward
Class Fee: $3
Join Jan Falk and fellow Loose Bead Society community service members for this unique, interactive workshop. Learn adaptive techniques to create a wet felt bead necklace and explore ways to continue beading at home. The workshop is open to and adapted for individuals with changing vision.
Also, join us for a visit to Loominosity - a sale and exhibit of handmade jewelry, wearable items and gifts, including weaving and beading demonstrations.

NEW! THE INS AND OUTS OF BASKET WEAVING
Mondays, October 17, 24 and 31, and November 7; 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Class Fee: $4 per session (or $14 for the series); all supplies included
Judy Fillus, basket weaver and artist, will teach basic basket weaving techniques. Create your own basket to take home. Resource materials and supplies provided. Space is limited – sign up early!

Leisure Enrichment
Leisure Enrichment classes provide opportunities to enhance leisure skills while having fun and socializing with others.
Classes are offered on an on-going basis (except during the summer and winter breaks). The annual fee is $80 a year ($60 for Association members). Annual class fees are due April 1st. Payment can be made in installments. Participants may enroll in as many classes as they choose. Day Passes are $2. Classes are held at Vision Forward.

Leisure Enrichment Events
The Life Skills program coordinates trips to cultural attractions, local restaurants and community events. Often transportation is arranged departing from Vision Forward.
