History
The Badger Association was formed on September 20th, 1919. Originally a boarding home for the blind, the Association transitioned over the years to become the region’s premier adult vision loss service center.
The Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children opened its doors in 1967. For 44 years, it was the only nonprofit organization in Wisconsin to provide the specialized early intervention services required to meet the needs of children under the age of six who were blind or visually impaired.
In 2010, the Badger Association merged with the Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children to form Vision Forward Association. By joining forces, the Badger Association and the Center combined over 130 years of expertise in serving individuals and families affected by vision loss. Together, these rich histories form the foundation of Vision Forward’s commitment to serve individuals of all ages who are blind or visually impaired and their families.
