Community Outreach
Vision Forward Association’s community outreach efforts raise awareness of the services available to individuals and families affected by vision loss. We also aim to reduce the societal stigma associated with blindness and visual impairment.
Our speakers provide educational information on common eye diseases, adaptive vision products and services that are available to the community. The audiences for these presentations are diverse, ranging from school age youth to older adults.
We also facilitate a Five Week Short Course for individuals experiencing vision loss. The course focuses on strategies and techniques for living successfully with macular degeneration, glaucoma and other age related eye conditions. This course is typically held at our facility, but can be conducted at retirement communities and community centers when requested.
Vision Forward Association is committed to an ongoing effort to increase service provision and awareness of vision loss in minority and underserved communities. Community outreach is vital to our pursuit of this goal.
